Is it physically possible for anyone, regardless of gender, race, age, etc. to know everything? People say Albert Einstein was a genius, and I believe them. I don't have any evidence to the contrary. But, did he know everything or was he just really good at certain things?
Today I have been thinking about knowledge, and how we accumulate it, and how it benefits us.
I am studying for the Praxis exam in English and I realize the amount of material that the test writers "think" a person who wants to be an English teacher should know is pretty huge. I mean I read a lot. I've been reading my whole life, practically. My father has a picture (that he did not hesitate to show in a slideshow at my bat mitzvah) of me reading a newspaper as a baby. However, I think it was a setup.
So the Praxis guide I have suggested a whole bunch of books that I should know.
I've read most of them.
But do I really know them?
I'm not quite sure. If someone asked me about "lord of the flies" i'd be like
um, boys on an island, that character piggy, survival of fittest, somethin somethin somethin
so i need to refresh
to say the least
what amazes me is how people fit so much knowledge in their brains. Like my fiance, who just knows so much about so many things (not that its all useful knowledge, but he tries). How does all that knowledge fit inside his head? If he fell on one side of his head would he know half as much? Does falling on your head as a baby make you less intelligent?
These are all questions to ponder.
As we make our way towards the dinner hour. And I bid you adieu
